• The original church and novitiate run by the Jesuits was also dedicated to St. Andrew. When the Jesuits asked Pope Alexander VII (1655-1667) to replace the original church he encouraged them to use his architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini
• Bernini's son Domenico once found him alone in this church and his response was: "I feel a special satisfaction deep in my heart for this one work of architecture and I often come here to console myself"
• The benefactor for the church was Prince Camillo Pamphili (1622-1666) who was the nephew of Pope Innocent X (1644-1655)
Facade
• The coat of arms at the top of the two columns is that of the Pamphili family
• After the death of the benefactor for the church Prince Camillo Pamphili, his son Prince Giovanni Battista become the benefactor for the facade
