• When St. Helen returned from Jerusalem with the cross she also brought soil from Calvary. This church is built on top of that soil. Thus the name of this church: Holy Cross in Jerusalem

• The facade inscription reads: Pope Benedict XIV, in Honor of the Holy Cross, in the Fourth Year of His Pontificate
• The statues, from left to right are: St. Helen, St. Luke, St. Matthew, two angels, St. John, St. Mark, Constantine
• The campanile is from around 1144
