Chapel of the Relics of the Passion

• This relic is the INRI inscription written by Pontius Pilate and placed on the cross of Jesus. INRI are the first letters from the Latin: Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum (Jesus the Nazarene King of the Jews). It is referred to in the gospels: Jn 19:19, Mt 27:37, Mk 15:26, and Lk 23:38

• The inscription reads in Latin: I NAZARENUS RE; Greek: IC NAZAPENOUCI; Hebrew: JSHW-NZR-MM. It measures 25 cm x 14 cm x 4 mm.
