• The mosaic is Virgin and Child with St Matthew and St Jerome

 

• Mary with the child Jesus is in the center. Cardinal Rodriguez  can be found as the small figure in the mosaic. St. Matthew and St. Jerome are present because their relics were brought from the East sometime before 1300 and placed in this church. St Matthew's relics are in the main altar. St. Jerome's relics may be in the Sistine chapel
