• The mosaic is St. Thomas' Unbelief. This refers to John 20:25, in which St. Thomas says he will not believe in the resurrection of Jesus unless he sees and touches Jesus for himself. Jesus then soon appears to him

• The relics of Pope St. Boniface IV (608-615) were placed under this altar in 1606

​

• The left medallion is of St. Maria Domenica Mazzarello (1837-1881). She founded the Daughters of Our Lady Help of Christians and was canonized in 1951

​

• The right medallion is of St. Maddalena Canossa (1774-1835). She founded the Daughters of Charity of Canossa and was canonized in 1988
