• The four upper apse paintings refer to the Quattro Coronati. From left, refusal to sacrifice to Asclepius, scourged to death, bodied are unburied, Pope Melchiades and St. Sebastian bury the bodies on Via Labicana (not pictured)

• The  seven lower apse paintings refer to the five sculptors from Pannonia who were matyred. From left, Claudius converts Simplicius, Simplicius baptized by Cyril of Antioch, sculptors ordered to make statue of Asclepius, the sculptors, sculptors scourged, widow of Lampadius requests death, Nicetas forces sculptors into caskets and puts them in the Sava river (not pictured)
