This chapel was originally dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria by Cardinal Matteo Orsini. It was later rededicated to The Most Holy Sacrament and given to the Aldobrandini family. After being elected, Pope Clement VIII (1592-1605) renovated the chapel as a tomb for his parents employing Girolamo Rainaldi and Giacomo della Porta. Carlo Maderno completed the work
