• The monument is Cardinal Pietro Gasparri. Cardinal Gasparri (1852-1934) negotiated the Lateran Treaty between the Vatican and Italy on behalf of Pope Pius XI (1922-1939). He signed it with Benito Mussolini (1883-1945) in the Lateran palace on February 11, 1929
