• Originally from Egypt and King Thutmose IV (1420-1411 BC). Roman Emperor Constantius II (337-361) had it brought to Rome in 357 and erected it in the Circus Maximus. Pope Sixtus in 1588 had it moved here when he created the north entrance. This is the oldest obelisk in Rome.
