• The mosaic is Navicella. This recounts the gospel story of Jesus walking on water and Peter, stepping out after him, loses faith and begins to sink (Mt 14:22-34)
• In the bottom right corner by Jesus' feet is the benefactor for the mosaic Cardinal Jacopo Stefaneschi (1270-1341)
• The mosaic was originally in old St. Peter's in the quadriporticus
