Baldachin

• Four porphyry columns support this famous Gothic baldachin. The baldachin itself survived the fire but the columns are new
• The Benedictine abbot Bartholomew who commissioned this work is represented in one of the corner statues and on the front panel
• The balustrade, leading to St. Paul's tomb below, was created for the 1575 Jubilee
