Parental connections allowed the Frangipani family to take over the chapel in the 1400s. Later renovations destroyed the earlier frescoes • As the chapel was previously dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene, the altar used to have Marcello Venusti's painting Noli Me Tangere [Do Not Touch Me]. These were the words spoken by Jesus after his resurrection to Mary Magdalene. This painting was moved to the Chapel of the Baptismal Font in this church where it can be found today
