Although condemned for being Christian, Paul was entitled to this type of death because he was a Roman citizen. The inscription reads: " To the preacher of truth, the teacher of nations" • The columns in front of the facade are red Baveno granite. A head of St. Paul is carved into the top of the columns

Anchor 1 ▼ First Courtyard • The painting is Quattro Coronati • The engraving on the door notes that the St. Sylvester chapel was given to the Sculptors' and Stonecutters' guild in 1570. The chapel was originally built in 1246. The church itself is connect with the five sculptor martyrs of Pannonia whose relics were brought here soon after the Quattro Coronati by Pope Leo IV around 847-855. You can enter this chapel from the second courtyard ◀
