Anchor 1 Main Altar Date: 1111 ca. • The marble frontal was originally used to touch objects to the relics of the Quattro Coronati and five sculptors of Pannonia. The Marian image now covers the opening • The left inscription recalls Pope Leo IV's (847-855) transfer of the relics of the Quattro Coronati and the five sculptors of Pannonia from the Via Labicana • The right inscription recalls Pope Paschal II's (1099-1118) verification of the relics in the crypt. He rebuilt the church around 1111 ▶
