Above the panel is the location where the doors were cast: "Florence." There are also some Ethiopian letters • These doors were originally used at old St. Peter's by the gift of Pope Eugenius IV (1431-1447). They were cast in Florence ◀

Pope Innocent III (1198-1216) was originally buried in Perugia but moved here by Pope Leo XIII (1878-1903). Leo XIII had been bishop of Perugia. The statue on the left is Wisdom and, on the right, Fortitude
