Anchor 1 ▼ ▲ ▶ ◀ Frangipane Chapel • This chapel was originally dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel and St. Mary Magdalene in the 1300s by the Capodiferro and Maddaleni families. Parental connections allowed the Frangipani family to take over the chapel in the 1400s. Later renovations destroyed the earlier frescoes • As the chapel was previously dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene, the altar used to have Marcello Venusti's painting Noli Me Tangere [Do Not Touch Me]. These were the words spoken by Jesus after his resurrection to Mary Magdalene. This painting was moved to the Chapel of the Baptismal Font in this church where it can be found today

Anchor 1 ▶ ◀ Tomb of Gregory XIV Artist: Prospero Bresciano • The monument is Tomb of Gregory XIV. These decorations were previously for Gregory XIII's (1572-1585) tomb. When Camillo Rusconi completed Gregory XIII's monument, which is now on the opposite wall, they moved his remains there in 1723. This monument was appropriated for Pope Gregory XIV (1590-1591) in 1842 • Pope Gregory XIV, after becoming Pope, only lived for 10 months
