Anchor 1 ▼ ▶ ◀ Chapel of St. Pius V • This chapel was originally dedicated to St. Jerome sometime after 1560 by Girolamo Porzio. The altar painting was of St. Jerome by Avanzino Nucci. The chapel was given to the Braschi and then, when it fell into the hands of the Millini around 1710, it was renovated and rededicated to the Dominican Pope St. Pius V (1566-1572) who was canonized in that year

It was later rededicated to The Most Holy Sacrament and given to the Aldobrandini family. After being elected, Pope Clement VIII (1592-1605) renovated the chapel as a tomb for his parents employing Girolamo Rainaldi and Giacomo della Porta. Carlo Maderno completed the work
